speaking volumes - our story
We have been working to bring churches and local communities together through books since 1977.
During that time, 1750 libraries have received over 47,000 books donated through churches across the world.
Speaking Volumes is an initiative of the 'The Christian Book Promotion Trust'. This trust is a registered charity set up in 1967 by Mr. Cecil Jackson-Cole who also formed charities such as Oxfam, Action Aid and Help the Aged. Its purpose is to promote the publication of good Christian books which would help and inspire the general public in the UK and overseas.
The trust is funded by a 14% shareholding of Andrews Estate Agency. The trust occassionally grant funds to projects whose aims are considered , by the trust, to be compatible with the settler's wishes.
Our trustees come from
publishing, library management and business backgrounds. We are committed to being interdenominational
and independent of any church organisation, publisher or other body.
Our charity registration number is 255001.
